NTT & Cloud Range Partner to Increase Cybersecurity Preparedness in Australia

New partnership allows NTT Ltd. to provide live-fire IT & OT cyber-attack simulation exercises to security teams

Countries around the world are seeking to address the global cyber skills shortage and to help combat the ever-increasing number of cyber threats. At Cloud Range, we believe that a well-executed cyber simulation program does both. That’s why Cloud Range is excited to team up with NTT Ltd. As a key, strategic partner, NTT Australia will use Cloud Range’s industry-leading cybersecurity simulation platform to help corporations across Australia reduce their cyber risk.

“We have long recognized a gap in the market that requires a platform approach to cyber preparedness and battle hardening for cyber defenders. By partnering with Cloud Range, we not only offer a hyper-realistic immersive experience that exposes security analysts and operators to real attacks in a controlled environment, it also offers rich insight into individual and team strengths, and where skills can be augmented through specialized managed services”, said Dirk Hodgson, NTT Director of Cybersecurity.

Organizations use Cloud Range's proprietary, simulation-based solutions to continuously accelerate the skill development and experience levels of their security teams in real-life team-participation exercises. The flexible and scalable cyber range-as-a-service model allows them to take advantage of hyper-realistic training and a program customized to their goals and capabilities. Security team members can encounter, and collaboratively defend, against a variety of live-fire scenarios that map to the MITRE ATT&CK framework – all within Cloud Range’s safe, controlled environment that uses some of the most advanced security tools on the market.

NTT Australia also required a cyber range solution that addressed critical infrastructure, especially since the maritime and mining industries are vital to Australia. A cyberattack on operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) can affect more than data, it could become a matter of life and death. Cloud Range’s OT training scenarios help security teams understand different attack flows, where bad actors could gain entry, and how to best respond.

“A cyber range is no longer a luxury. It’s a necessity,” said Cloud Range CEO Debbie Gordon.  “NTT Australia recognized that Cloud Range’s immersive cyber range environment gives security teams the needed expertise, judgment skills, and muscle memory required to be ready when a real attack occurs. We’re delighted about our new partnership.”

Similar to the way pilot training uses flight simulators, cyber simulation effectively prepares cyber professionals to detect and mitigate live attacks, reducing the chances of a costly breach.

In addition to the live-fire simulation for teams, NTT Australia will offer Cloud Range’s other simulation-based products:

  • Individual skill development labs provide hands-on training in our interactive, emulated environment based on experience level and role. They support the team exercises by allowing each person to select what to target and work at their own pace.

  • Our cognitive and aptitude assessments help cyber professionals find the best fit and help organizations hire. When the assessments are combined with team simulation training, organizations are set up to successfully develop and retain their existing cyber talent long-term.

  • Cloud Range’s Tabletop 2.0 exercises improve the relationship between security and executive teams with dynamic exercises that allow organizations to see the whole picture.

The result is an end-to-end cyber learning experience to train, test, assess, and solidify capabilities of cyber professionals on an ongoing basis to keep up with the ever-changing threat landscape.
